FABENS, Texas – Around 6:30 pm on Sunday, Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 17600 block of Island Guadalupe Rd. due to an accident at a mud-track event.
Deputies say one of the vehicles, due to unknown reasons, left the mud-track striking and breaking through a guardrail. Three other vehicles were also struck as a result of the initial crash.
Spectators of the event were injured and transported to local area hospital three in critical condition and five others with non-life-threatening injuries.
A total of eight spectators sustained injuries to include one fatality.
Two victims remain in critical but stable condition, five sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and 21-year-old Willie Valadez Ramirez was pronounced deceased at a local area hospital.
No other details were immediately available.
