Police say Bartelt had a shotgun, a can of gasoline, and a propane tank. He never pointed a weapon at officers, but was holding a shotgun under his chin and was threatening to harm himself, according to police. Police say at one point, Bartelt was holding the can of gasoline and "sloshing gas on his truck". Negotiators were brought in and were able to talk to Bartelt. At 2:46 p.m., police say "the suspect threw down the shotgun and surrendered to officers".

ARKANSAS — A situation that involved a man with a shotgun and possible propane tanks at Arkansas State University has ended without shots fired.

The suspect has been identified as Bradley Kenneth Bartelt, 47, of Jonesboro.

Bartelt made a threatening post on Facebook prior to the incident. Police didn’t say what the post was about.

The university remained on lockdown during the situation. No one was injured and no shots were fired.

Bartelt has been charged with aggravated assault.

He was located on the east side of the Carl R. Reng Student Union in Heritage Lawn. No word as to what the motive was.
