ROSEVILLE, CA. — Tuesday night, the Placer County Sheriff’s dispatch center received a call of a man driving his Dodge pickup truck recklessly in a Newcastle parking lot, where approximately 14 gunshots were heard.
Numerous shots were fired from the suspect’s truck as it traveled along Rock Springs Road in Penryn, where one house was struck by gunfire. One victim who lives on Rock Springs Road was shot at her door and killed by the suspect.
The decedent is identified as Mary Toste, 93, of Penryn.
The other gunshot victim was shot as he was driving in the area. He immediately drove to the Loomis Fire Station where he sought medical treatment and was transported to a nearby hospital. Another motorist was shot at in Loomis, but was not struck.
The suspect was located on westbound Interstate 80 near the Highway 65 connector-ramp, where an officer-involved shooting occurred, and the suspect was killed. A K9 officer was also shot but is recovering.

The Roseville Police Department is investigating the officer-involved shooting in the City of Roseville.
The Sheriff’s Office is the primary investigating agency for the homicide investigation and the other crimes committed by the suspect, throughout south Placer County. We have currently identified seven crime scenes between Newcastle and Roseville, and our investigation continues.
