Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a deceased American Airlines flight attendant in a room at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott.

Cleaning staff made this unsettling discovery and alerted the authorities at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Monday, WPVI reported.

Authorities say the 66-year-old woman was found with a sock placed in her mouth.

Philadelphia law enforcement officials say there were no apparent signs of forced entry, no indications of a struggle, and no weapons were recovered at the scene.

According to WPVI, multiple sealed bottles of prescription medications were found in the room.

The official cause of the woman’s death remains undetermined, and her identity has not been disclosed.

 

The woman was scheduled to have checked out of the room two days prior.

Police have classified the death as suspicious, prompting the involvement of the Homicide Detectives Division in the ongoing investigation.
