FAIRVIEW TWP, PA – A Pennsylvania man claims he murdered his friend after an adverse reaction to a marijuana cookie.

On Saturday, around 12:30 a.m, police officers with the Rice Township Police Department, Wright Township Police Department, and Fairview Township Police Department responded to a home in Luzerne County for a report of a domestic disturbance.

Responding officers found Elizabeth Bennett Leonard, 41, dead in the home. She was found placed upright against the front door with deep gashes to her abdomen, officials said.

Police located Lavarius Obrian Watson, 26, of Pocono Summit. He was detained by responding officers. Watson was reportedly drenched in blood and was saying, “Why did I do that?,” The Pocono Record reported.

According to the Pocono Record, “Watson and Leonard had known one another for seven years, Watson told police. He was at her Mountain Top home Friday evening to babysit her children, and after dinner, the pair shared a weed cookie in the kitchen. He had an adverse reaction, Watson told police. He said he remembered rising from his seat at the kitchen counter and walking to a drawer containing knives. He pulled one from it, then stabbed Leonard in the stomach about five times, he said.”

Watson has since been charged with one count of criminal homicide.
