A Snow Emergency has been declared and all designated snow emergency routes are included in this emergency declaration.

BISMARCK, ND — Officials: Parking is prohibited on designated snow emergency routes; vehicles must be removed from these roadways and parked off the street on driveways or parking ramps. Snow gates are still being used when possible. Due to the significant accumulation of snowfall and the blowing and drifting snow conditions, the snow gates will not be able to hold back the large volume of snow that is in the plow at all times. We ask that citizens work together with their neighbors to open up driveways and mailboxes that may become blocked.

Street crews have plowed the emergency routes since yesterday. We anticipate that we will continue to plow the emergency routes all day Tuesday until the snow and wind subside.  Once the blizzard is over, major arterials and residential streets will begin to be plowed.  Please remove vehicles from all city streets to aid in snow removal operation.  Keep them off the street until the plows have cleaned your area. We want to thank the citizens for their cooperation during this blizzard event.

We ask that contractors cleaning parking lots DO NOT push the snow into the street or across the street onto the boulevard.  If you’ve already done this, please remove the snow and haul it to the landfill.

It is illegal to push, shovel or blow snow into the street, alley, or onto another person’s property.  The fine for this violation is up to $1000 and up to 30 days in jail
