Guelph, ONTARIO — On May 19, 2015 at approximately 1:00 p.m., Guelph Police Officers were involved in a critical incident at the Guelph General Hospital Emergency Unit located at 115 Delhi Street. During the incident, service firearms were discharged resulting in serious injuries to a member of the public, police said in a statement.
The suspect was shot inside the emergency room at the hospital and was declared dead at the scene.
The Guelph Police have contacted the Ontario Special Investigations Unit. The SIU subsequently invoked its mandate and as always the Guelph Police Service will cooperate with the SIU through its investigation.
Ten investigators, including four forensic specialists, are probing the shooting.
