Delta Airlines Flight 2116 headed from Los Angeles to Minneapolis experienced some sort of complication during departure and made plans for an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday.
The incident was reported shortly before 9 a.m. (12 p.m. ET). The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that the plain was anticipating an emergency landing at runway no. 25.
Emergency equipment was being rolled out.
An FAA spokesman said the aircraft experienced a problem during takeoff.
The aircraft flew in a holding pattern before making final decent into Los Angeles airspace in order to burn off unnecessary fuel.
The Boeing 757 made a safe landing at approximately 9:45 a.m. local time and headed to the gate.
The nature of the problem and reason for emergency landing remains unknown at this point.
