Southampton County, Va. — The remains were found near the 34000 block of Smiths Ferry Rd. The remains are to be identified by the medical examiner. No positive ID yet.
Police made the discovery while looking for missing teen Anjelica “AJ” Hadsell.
Hadsell went missing on March 2nd while visiting home in Norfolk for Spring Break. The FBI has since joined the search, assisting Virginia State Police.
Police initially said they did not suspect foul play in Hadsell’s disappearance.

“Since then, her adoptive father, Wesley Hadsell, has been arrested and charged with breaking and entering, obstruction of justice, and weapons charges in relation to an incident that occurred in the days following AJ’s disappearance.
Wesley Hadsell has maintained that he has nothing to do with AJ’s disappearance.”
The investigation is ongoing.
