WATCH: (Scroll Down For Video) A man from Houston was shot dead after he left an apartment to protect his sister when a group of armed robbers attacked her and her husband in a parking lot.

Daniel Trevino, aged 32, left the apartment to protect his sister Emily Torrez when the gunmen tried to force her into her own car after they had already roughed up her husband and stolen his wallet.

The robbers chased Trevino back to his sister’s second-floor home at the Las Casitas Apartments in north Houston and shot him around 3am before returning to the lot and going after his sister.

The violent group chased Trevino”s sister and brother-in-law around the apartment complex and shot at them, but they were not seriously injured in the attack, according to KHOU.

Torrez said: ‘They were just shooting at us.

‘I ran over there and tried to get under a car and we looked up to the apartment and we heard, ‘boom, boom,’ and my brother got shot.’

The victim was staying at his sister’s house after having a night out, Click 2 Houston reported.

Neighbors told police they had noticed the suspects, who only ended up making off with a measly $80, hanging around in the complex before the attack took place.

Police said it’s possible that they are teenagers and that they could strike in the area again soon.
