WATCH: (Scroll Down For Video) Two beloved family dogs have been saved from near death after firefighters rescued them from a house blaze, gave them CPR and oxygen.

A fire that may have been caused by a space heater on an overloaded electrical circuit broke out in a Utah home where an elderly man lives with his two dogs Betty and Buddy on Saturday.

The man was not at the home when the fire began around noon, but his son happened to stop by and immediately told a neighbor to call 911.

Kevin Sargent ran to the backyard and grabbed a bucket of water before trying to get Betty and Buddy out of the house.

‘The smoke overcomes you fast,’ he told Fox 13 Now.

Betty was resuscitated  and given oxygen through a specialized mask.

Buddy, who was in the basement, perked up quickly after he also received a little oxygen.

‘Dog CPR is a new phenomenon in EMS and fire departments,’ said Deputy Fire Marshal Pat Killion.

‘We’re actually set up with oxygen masks for animals.’

Both Betty and Buddy are expected to be okay, comforting news for the man who only lost his wife two months ago.
