Calif. Governor Declares State of Emergency, Seeks Presidential Emergency Declaration

SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom issued an emergency proclamation for San Bernardino County which was also impacted by the effects of a second large magnitude earthquake near Ridgecrest that has damaged critical infrastructure, homes and other structures and caused fires.

Newsom also requested a Presidential Emergency Declaration for Direct Federal Assistance to further support the communities impacted by the earthquakes.

Earlier, Governor Newsom issued a statement on the work underway by the state to assist the impacted communities.
