Cocaine, Marijuana, PCP Recovered After Man Runs Stop Sign

QUEENS, New York — Police officers assigned to the 108 Precinct in Queens arrested a man in possession of a narcotics Wednesday after stopping a vehicle for a traffic violation.  Police Officers Gerald LaClair and Madalin Niculae were on patrol in the vicinity of 38 Street and 43 Avenue when they observed a black 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee disobey a stop sign while traveling north bound on 38 Street.

The officers stopped the vehicle on 43 Avenue, and as they approached, a strong odor of marijuana was emanating from the car. At this time, the officers observed marijuana residue on the floor of the stopped vehicle and a license check of the driver revealed that he was driving with a suspended license.

The suspect was placed under arrest and was transported to the 108 Precinct for processing. While officers conducted an inventory search of the suspect’s vehicle they discovered two ounces of Phencyclidine (PCP) in the trunk.
Officers then contacted the Emergency Services Unit and requested a narcotics detecting canine dog who alerted his handler to a positive hit in the center console. Officers then applied for, and were granted, a search warrant for the vehicle, where they discovered a secret compartment which concealed over five ounces of cocaine, over eight ounces of marijuana and 60 amphetamine pills.
