EDINBURG, Texas – On Nov. 24, information sharing between the United States and the Government of Mexico (GoM) led to the rescue of 106 migrants held against their will.
During the U.S.-Mexico Border Security Multi-Agency Law Enforcement training held in McAllen, Texas, on Nov. 15, the Rio Grande Valley Foreign Operations Branch shared information with GoM officials about apprehension trends near a local ranch in Roma, Texas.
As a result of the information gathered, GoM subsequently narrowed down a suspected residence in Miguel Aleman and conducted a welfare check, resulting in the discovery of 106 migrants from Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador. The Instituto Nacional de Migracion took custody of the migrants for processing.
“Continued collaboration, such as the bi-national law enforcement training, constantly pays dividends when it comes to border security,” said Acting Chief Patrol Agent Raul Ortiz. “The more we learn from each other’s experiences and expertise, the safer our communities will become.”
