Five Injured After Car Crashes Into Pedestrians In London

Five people have been rushed to hospital after a car struck five people in Bellingham, London.

Paramedics, police and even an air ambulance were requested to Bromley Road in Bellingham on Sunday morning after a Mercedes collided with a group of pedestrians.

The driver was arrested at the scene at around 8:30am, on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said:Police were called at approximately 8.20am to reports of a car in collision with a wall and a number of pedestrians on Bromley Road in Bellingham.

‘Officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended.

‘Five people were treated at the scene. They have all been taken to south and east London hospitals. We await an update on their condition.

‘The driver of the car was detained at the scene by an off-duty police officer before being arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

‘Road closures are in place.’
