SANFORD, Florida — (News Release / Sanford PD) — On Sunday, 12/4/2016, Sanford Police received a 911 call of a robbery at the Rescue Outreach Mission Church located at 1701 Historic Goldsboro Blvd. The victim was a 76 year old church member who was opening the church for Sunday’s services.
The victim was inside the church and left her purse on a church bench and went into another room in the church. When she returned, she observed a female, later identified as Brenda Yancy, inside the church hovering over her purse and holding her wallet. The victim asked the subject to return the wallet and money, and a struggle took place.
The subject then kicked the victim and attempted to strike her in the face with a closed fist.
The subject then left the church on foot.
Officers located Brenda Yancy a short distance from the church, matching the description of the subject. Based on the investigation, probable cause was established to arrest Branda Yancy on charges of Robbery, Battery on a Person 65 years or Older, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia/Equipment.
