Francois Hollande has said it is intolerable that Jews in France feel they have to hide their Kippah and their religion after anti-Semetic attacks.
President Hollande spoke out in Marseille after a machete-wielding attacker injured a Jewish teacher.
He went on to say he rejected the idea that Jewish people should have to hide or go without their traditional Kippah.
After the attack, an investigation was opened by the anti-terrorism section of the prosecutor’s office in the French capital.
The knife attack came just four days after a man was shot after he went to a police station wielding a knife screaming ‘Allahu Akbar.’
German authorities say the man had lived at a shelter for asylum-seekers in the western city of Recklinghausen.
