OLIVEHURST, Calif. — Lindhurst High School was closed on Thursday and Friday due to the discovery of a girl’s body on campus, according to school officials.
Yuba County Sheriff Wendell Anderson reported that deputies were called to the high school in response to a possible hanging death before 7 a.m. on Thursday.
Upon arrival, authorities found the body of 14-year-old Autumn Estes hanging from a building’s second floor.
Estes attended Yuba Garden Middle School and had left her home for school just before the incident, officials said.
The sheriff said the death appears to be a suicide but an investigation is ongoing. Other students initially made the horrific discovery.
Estes was identified by family members through a GoFundMe account.
