North Korea announced on Wednesday that it had successfully tested its first hydrogen bomb.

Hydrogen bomb are more technologically advanced and more powerful than atomic weapons.

“If there’s no invasion on our sovereignty we will not use nuclear weapon,” the North Korean state news agency said.

Japan swiftly condemned the test, saying that it was a serious threat to its security.

“It clearly violates the UNSC resolution and is a serious challenge to the nuclear non-proliferation efforts,” said Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

All four of North Korea’s nuclear tests — in 2006, 2009, 2013 and now — have taken place while Barack Obama has been president.

South Korea will take full readiness in case of additional provocation from NK and protect the lives of people and safety of South Korea.

China plans to summon North Korea’s ambassador in Beijing to the Foreign Ministry to lodge a strong protest, spokeswoman Hua Chunying told reporters at a daily briefing Wednesday.
