According to a city official in Louisville, the gunman, Connor Sturgeon, started his violent attack on Monday by shooting a woman in the back, as seen in his Instagram livestream. The video has since been removed from the platform.

Sturgeon was a 25-year-old employee of Old National Bank, who was reportedly on the verge of being fired and had suicidal thoughts before carrying out the shooting.

The attack resulted in the death of five people and the injury of eight others.

According to CNN, the video shows Sturgeon being greeted by a female worker in the bank who said, “good morning,” before he tells her to “get out of here” and shoots her in the back as she attempted to flee.

In the video, it appears his first trigger pull failed as the safety on his rifle was still on and there was not a round in the chamber, but he later managed to shoot the woman in the back after chambering a round, CNN reported. The woman’s current condition is unknown.

Sturgeon the proceeded to search for and target employees in a rampage that lasted about a minute. After the shooting, Sturgeon sat down in the lobby appearing to wait for police to arrive.

When officers arrived, Sturgeon was killed in a shootout and a LMPD officer was shot in the head. He remains hospitalized and is fighting for his life.

The authenticity of the video has not been independently verified by Breaking911.
