Infant Killed In Brooklyn Apartment Fire Identified

NEW YORK CITY — On Wednesday morning, around 8:30, police responded to a 911 call of an apartment fire at 260 Mother Gaston Boulevard in the confines of the 73rd Precinct/PSA 2.

Upon arrival, first responders discovered a 1-year-old male who was unconscious and unresponsive.

EMS responded and transported the 1-year-old male aided to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The boy has been identified as Ivan Baez.

Six other residents of the apartment were transported in stable condition by EMS to area hospitals for treatment for smoke inhalation and minor injuries: a 40-year-old female, a 32-year-old male, a 22-year-old male, a 20-year-old female, a 17-year-old female, an 8-year-old male were transported by EMS to area hospitals in stable condition.

The Fire Marshall will determine the cause of the fire.
