COLORADO SPRINGS — On Tuesday, Officer David Nelson was conducting routine patrol in the area of Austin Bluffs Pkwy. and Barnes Rd. Off. Nelson entered the parking lot of the Family Dollar Store and observed an adult male wearing a ghillie suit and acting suspicious.
Off. Nelson contacted the individual later identified as Justin Smith and determined he was concealing a machete with an 18” blade on his side. Mr. Smith indicated he slept outside last evening and when he does this he wears his ghillie suit.
Smith was served a summons for Unlawfully Carrying A Concealed Weapon and released.
