COBB COUNTY, Georgia — The Smyrna Police Officer was identified Monday afternoon as Sgt. Kenneth Owens.
March, 24: Officers were attempting to serve a warrant at the suspect’s place of work.
The suspect ran, stealing a car from the business, police say.
The man then drove the car toward the Officers. At that time, the Officers opened fire on the vehicle, striking and killing the suspect.
Six Officers were on scene at the time of the incident.
11Alive identified the man as 23-year-old Nicholas Thomas.
An investigation is ongoing.
