TAYLOR, NY – A man was fatally shot with a crossbow while trying to hunt down a skunk Friday evening, police say.

Shortly after 9:00 p.m., New York State Police were called to the home on Jipson Hill Road in the town of Taylor for a report of a man shot with a crossbow.

When the trooper arrived, Cincinnatus ambulance and MAVAC were already on scene administering medical aid. The man, identified as James R. Parker Jr., 58, succumbed to his injuries.

Police say “Parker and another male were attempting to kill a skunk outside of the residence.
