Man shot after attacking Texas officers with knife on NYE released from hospital

The man accused of attacking two Corpus Christi Police Officers on New Year’s Eve has been booked into jail.

33-year-old Servando Sanchez was released from a local hospital late this afternoon and was taken into police custody. He was booked in on several charges

On Friday night, officers were called to the 4100 block of Brett Street for a domestic disturbance. Officers arrived on scene around 10:00 PM. Shortly after officers arrived, they were “confronted by the suspect who produced a knife and attacked the responding officers,” cops said. Two officers sustained injuries from the attack when a third officer shot the suspect.

Sanchez was provided immediate medical attention and was transported to a local hospital. Two officers were also transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim of the domestic disturbance was also transported to a hospital.

The Corpus Christi Police Officers will be placed on paid administrative leave, in accordance with current department practice and policy.
