COLORADO SPRINGS — On Sunday, James Mitchell, the victim, was upset with his downstairs neighbor Kevin Riley, 51, due to Riley’s loud TV, police said.

Mitchell reportedly knocked on Riley’s door with a small wooden bat. Witnesses reported seeing Riley open the door, grab Mitchell, and throw him onto the ground. Riley then began to stab Mitchell several times in the back and sides.

Mitchell was treated and released from Memorial Hospital. A search warrant was completed and evidence was recovered from Riley’s apartment. Riley is being held at the El Paso County jail in lieu of a total of $20,000 bail.
