Man Gets More Than 200 Years For Sexually Assaulting 3 Young Family Members

LOS ANGELES — A 37-year-old man was sentenced today to 220 years to life in state prison for sexually assaulting three children in his family, officials announced.

Deputy District Attorney Stephen Morgan said Richard Edward Ray of Palmdale was convicted on Dec. 9, 2015 of a total of 17 felony counts.

Ray was found guilty of five counts of lewd act upon a child; two counts each of continuous sexual abuse, aggravated assault of a child and oral copulation or sexual penetration with child 10 years old or younger; and one count each of incest, sexual intercourse or sodomy with child 10 years or younger, sodomy of person under 14 with 10 year difference, aggravated sexual assault of a child (oral copulation), criminal threats and forcible rape of child victim over the age of 14.

The three victimized girls ranged in ages between five and 14 years old, the prosecutor said. The abuse began in 1996 and ended in 2014 and occurred in the Antelope Valley and Nevada, the prosecutor added.
