Pueblo, CO — OnĀ August 5, 2015 at shortly after 9:00 AM, an unknown man entered the Key Bank at 1521 S. 8th St. Wearing a long, dark wig and a ball cap, the man approached a teller station and requested change for a 20 dollar bill. He suddenly left when the teller hesitated to assist him.

Gold Hill Division officers responded to Key Bank, and as they began investigating, another call was received from Pikes Peak National Bank at 2401 W. Colorado Ave.

A man wearing a wig had just robbed a teller and was last seen leaving the area on foot, southbound. The CSPD Robbery Unit responded to investigate along with Gold Hill officers. The suspect was described as a white or hispanic male in his 50’s or 60’s, 5’10”, medium build.

An alert citizen saw the suspect get in a car nearby; he obtained a license plate and passed it along to CSPD. Detectives learned the license listed to an individual whose last known residence is in Pueblo, but there was no similarity or apparent connection between the suspect and the registered owner.

Detectives responded to Pueblo and conducted surveillance on a home near Pine St. and Northern Ave. Investigators observed a man fitting the description of the bank robber on the property.

Within a short time, the man walked off the property and passed by an investigator, who was close enough to confirm he was the same individual seen in surveillance footage from the banks.

Detectives contacted him along the sidewalk in the 1500 block of Pine St. Donnie Edwards, 58, was detained and then taken into custody. Detectives transported him to the Police Operations Center, where he was processed for booking.

He is charged with one count of Attempted Robbery and one count of Robbery. A search warrant was also obtained and executed at a residence in Pueblo.
