ANSONIA, Conn. — State Police say they have arrested the mother of a student for causing a lock-down at Emmett O’Brien Technical High School…

On Monday December 14, 2015 at approx., 9:20 a.m. Troopers from Troop I-Bethany received a call from Emmett O’Brien Tech High School reporting that Leslie Teixeira, a parent of a student, called the school twice very upset and
crying hysterically.

Leslie stated that her son is mean and she is scared of him because “he is like the kid that killed the babies of Columbine and he is an angry child.”

Leslie’s statements resulted in the school being placed in lockdown. The son was located and interviewed and no evidence of weapons was found, nor did the son have the ability to obtain one. Furthermore, Troopers found there was no evidence that the son was a danger to himself or others.

Teixeira was arrested and charged with Breach of Peace. She was involuntarily checked into a mental health facility.

“We must treat these types of incidents as genuine and respond to them appropriately; making arrests and ensuring the safety of those that feel threatened,” police said in a statement on Facebook. “Troopers are on patrol 24 hours a day, standing by for any emergency. Responding to false alarms takes them away from legitimate calls for help and wastes valuable manpower. Fabricated threats lead to disruptions in schools, businesses and everyday life.”
