Nashville Man Sitting on Motorcycle Fatally Shot By Gunman Armed With Rifle From 25-Yards Away

The man fatally shot at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in front of 1814 Dr. D.B. Todd Boulevard is identified as Anthony Rucker, 33, of Nashville. The investigation at present shows that Rucker was sitting on a motorcycle talking with other persons when a gunman armed with a rifle approached and opened fire on them from a distance of about 25 yards. Rucker was hit as he tried to avoid the gunfire. No one else was shot. Rucker died shortly after arriving at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Witnesses described the gunman as a black man with dreadlocks who was last seen running through an alley toward 16th Avenue North. The motive for firing on the specific group of individuals has not been determined.
