Migrants in Norway are being enrolled on what is described as ‘rape prevention courses’ in a bid to help them understand cultural differences.

In the course they are taught how to interpret customs, such as a woman’s choice of skirt is not ‘an invitation to sex.’

The courses have been in commission for several years, but have recently seen a revival since the New Year’s Eve sex attacks.

According to officials, the aim of the course is to teach migrants about the laws in what is acceptable behavior to women.

‘The idea behind this course is to talk about risk situations that can arise when it comes to rapes and sexual assaults,’ says instructor Linda Hagen.

‘We need your help so that we can together detect these situations.’

‘But if she’s drunk, how can I be sure that she wants to sleep with me?’ asks a Sudanese man.

‘If she wants come to my place, that means she’s consenting,’ says one Syrian.

The course was launched after a multitude of rapes by foreigners between 2009 – 2011.

766 police reports filed in response to the Cologne New Year’s Attacks, including 497 for sexual assault, which police have blamed on Arab and North African men.
