NEW YORK — At least two people were shot near Syracuse University campus on Wednesday night. One of those victims has died, according to local reports.
Syracuse Police say they were fired upon while searching for gunmen. No Officers were injured and they did not return fire.
Two suspects are still at large.
The scene was at Hope Avenue. A manhunt was on for the gunman, who is believed to have fled into the Oakwood Cemetery.
Helicopters and Police K-9 units were assisting in the search effort.
Syracuse University issued an “Orange Alert” .. ordering students to shelter in place. The lockdown has since been lifted.
From DailyOrange: “At about 9 p.m., a Syracuse police officer said it is believed at least one person is armed in the cemetery, though the officers on the scene are unsure how many people total are in the area.”
Update: Remain sheltered in place – do not leave buildings. Stay in place, indoors, and keep doors closed.
