MANHUNT ON: Houston Police Officer Shot, Gunman at Large

TEXAS — A police officer was shot in North East Houston Tuesday afternoon. A manhunt has been launched for the gunman.

According to reports, the Officer suffered non life threatening injuries and was struck in the arm. An Officer did return fire but it was not known if the suspect was struck. Several people were detained at the scene for questioning.

“HPD Northeast Patrol Officer has been shot while on a call for service,” police said. “He’s been transported to the hospital in stable condition. We have PIOs enroute to the scene and to the hospital.”

It’s unclear what led up to the shooting. The scene is at 5900 Van Zandt.
