Pawtucket, RI — On February 15, 2019, Pawtucket Police Detectives began to further investigate a report of a 15 month old infant who possibly ingested an unknown drug. The infant was transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital for evaluation.

Detectives spoke with the father of the child, Michael Wittlin, who called 911 after finding what he said was a ‘white, rock like substance’ in his daughter’s mouth. Wittlin reported that he removed the substance from his daughter’s mouth, tasted it, and his whole mouth went numb. It was at this time he called 911. He then reported that he flushed the rock like substance down the toilet prior to rescue arriving.

The mother of the child advised detectives she was at work at the time of the incident and received a call from Michael about what happened.

On February 21, 2019, an arrest warrant was applied for Michael Wittlin (30) for Cruelty to or Neglect of a Child. Michael was subsequently taken into custody without incident and arraigned in Providence District Court.
