CALIFORNIA — (Scroll Down For Video) — Pop star Ariana Grande has apologized for saying “I hate America,” before licking a doughnut and now police are investigating.
Grande was at the pastry shop ‘Wolfee Doughnuts’ in Lake Elsinore on July 4th when the bizarre incident went down.
The business’s owner filed an incident report Tuesday with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department after seeing the surveillance video.
In the video, the singer is seen licking a tray of doughnuts that were sitting uncovered on a counter.
From NBC: — Though deputies determined that the video showed Grande and another man appearing to “maliciously lick” the doughnuts, the sheriff’s department and the Riverside County Department of Environmental Health were investigating Wolfee Donuts to determine whether the contaminated doughnuts were thrown away or sold to other customers. —
In a statement to The Associated Press on Wednesday, the 22-year-old singer — who was born in Florida and is of Italian descent — says she’s a proud American.
She added that “what I said in a private moment … was taken out of context and I am sorry for not using more discretion with my choice of words.”
