LOS ANGELES — A 31-year-old registered sex offender was charged today with committing a lewd act on a 6-year-old girl after she got dropped off at an elementary school in Torrance.
Dalan Anthony Johnson, 31, of Torrance faces one count of forcible lewd act upon a child under the age of 14.
Deputy District Attorney Parag Agrawal said the case includes allegations that Johnson was convicted in 2015 of lewd act upon a child under 14 and of indecent exposure with a prior lewd act conviction in 2016.
According to KTLA, Johnson was ‘allegedly caught by security cameras as he went into the playground area and committed a sex crime against a 6-year-old girl.’
Johnson was allegedly on parole and wearing an ankle bracelet when the assault happened on March 28, the prosecutor said.
He faces a possible maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted as charged. Bail is scheduled at $1.17 million.
The case remains under investigation by the Torrance Police Department.
