Subway Sex Abuser Arrested By NYPD Transit Officers

“It turned out that this man was wanted for making inappropriate contact with another victim last month. I’m glad that we were able to respond quickly and arrest him,” said Lieutenant Morris.

NYPD Transit cops arrested a man wanted for sex abuse on a New York City subway train Tuesday evening. Lieutenant Morris and Police Officer Masonet of Transit District 4 responded to a sexual abuse call at the 14 Street and 1 Avenue subway station on the L line. As they walked to meet the victim they observed a man that fit the description of the suspect.

Lieutenant Morris stopped the suspect to investigate, but the man fled after he heard a description broadcasted over the officers’ police radio. The man ran onto the subway tracks, but was the 29-year-old man was arrested by other responding officers when he attempted to exit at an adjoining subway station. Further investigation revealed that the suspect was wanted for a previous sexual abuse incident on the L line from April 20.
