NASHVILLE, TENN — Midtown Hills Precinct detectives this morning charged Vana Mustafa, 17, with criminal homicide for Friday night’s fatal shooting of Aiad Malo, 18, in the dark parking lot of the former Kmart store at 4095 Nolensville Pike.
The investigation, being led by Detective Brittany Shoesmith, shows that Mustafa shot Malo after meeting him at the parking lot to fight.
South Precinct officers heard shots coming from the area of the parking lot at 8 p.m. Minutes later, Malo was brought by friends to Southern Hills Medical Center where he died.
Information provided by witnesses led to the identification of Mustafa as the gunman. He was located at his Bluffhollow Gap home and brought to the Midtown Hills Precinct. During an interview with Detective Shoesmith, Mustafa admitted to shooting Malo.
Mustafa is being held at juvenile detention.
