TUSCALOOSA, Alabama — (Scroll down for video) — The University of Alabama’s Alpha Phi sorority deleted a recruitment video after receiving a lot of criticism.

An article from AL.com played a big part in bringing the online backlash writing: “It’s a parade of white girls and blonde hair dye, coordinated clothing, bikinis and daisy dukes, glitter and kisses, bouncing bodies, euphoric hand-holding and hugging, gratuitous booty shots, and matching aviator sunglasses. It’s all so racially and aesthetically homogeneous and forced, so hyper-feminine, so reductive and objectifying, so Stepford Wives: College Edition. It’s all so…unempowering.”

Clay Travis, of FoxSports and ‘Outkick The Coverage’ believes the exact opposite: “What in the world is improper about this video? There’s no drinking, there’s no drugs, there’s no nudity, there’s a lot of girls being happy and playing fake football in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Was it accurately reflective of real life? Probably not. … The only reason this video is popular is because the girls are really hot and they featured a football player in it. If the girls were less attractive and Kenyan Drake wasn’t in it it wouldn’t have gone viral.”

The University itself as also apologized: “This video is not reflective of UA’s expectations for student organizations to be responsible digital citizens. It is important for student organizations to remember what is posted on social media makes a difference, today and tomorrow, on how they are viewed and perceived,” said Deborah Lane, Associate Vice President for University Relations.
