MARIETTA, GEORGIA – Today, January 27, at approximately 3:35 p.m., a trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop for speeding (98 MPH) on I-75 southbound at Chastain Road. The suspect did not stop and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit continued down I-75 southbound to Delk Road. Additional troopers joined the pursuit and performed a boxed-in maneuver around the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect struck another vehicle during the pursuit. After the suspect struck the vehicle, he exited his vehicle and began shooting at the troopers.
TFC Jacob Fields was struck in his abdomen and leg. Troopers returned fire and struck the suspect.
TFC Fields was transported to Kennestone Hospital. He is stable and alert. The suspect was also transported to Kennestone Hospital. His condition is unknown.
