Veteran Memphis Firefighter Dies Battling Fire

MEMPHIS, TENN — On Saturday, April 16, Quint 37 responded with other companies to a house fire at 4513 Marigold Lane.

During firefighting/overhaul procedures, Lieutenant Rodney Eddins (Quint 37) collapsed in the interior of the residence.

Fire crews treated and transported him in critical condition to Methodist South Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Lt. Eddins faithfully served the City of Memphis and the Division of Fire Services for thirty years.

A fire Official said, “We honor him for his love, commitment and dedication. On behalf of Director Gina Sweat, the Command Staff and the entire Division of Fire Services, we offer our deepest condolences and prayers to God for the family, loved ones, friends and fellow firefighters of Lieutenant Rodney K. Eddins.”
