This is the moment a driver serenaded his way out of a traffic ticket.

TJ Bristol, a gospel singer and the chaplain of Orange County Jail, was stopped by police in Florida and decided to film the encounter with the help of a selfie stick.

After telling the camera he was going to ‘sing his way out of this ticket’, he launches in to rendition of Joe Cocker’s ballad You Are So Beautiful – to the obvious delight of the officers.

After politely asking permission to step out of his vehicle, he is asked by Corporal Ricks and Deputy Hoagland whether he knew why he had been pulled over.

Corporal Ricks, whose husband was murdered in the line of duty five years ago, asked Bristol to sing a song.

‘I promise you I’m going to wear my seatbelt from now on. I’m going to sing my way out of this ticket.’

The two officers can’t help but smile as he performs the love song. As his rendition comes they both break in to applause.

Seconds later he turned to the camera again and said: ‘Buckle up, y’all’.

Orange County Police took to Facebook as they reported the incident on Friday – and called it ‘heartwarming’.

Bristol later posted a picture of himself with the two officers online along with the message: ‘I really feel safe with these police officers they taught me a great lesson about buckling up always remember click it or ticket.’
