WATCH: Japan Airlines Plane Evacuated After Engine Fire in Snowstorm

WATCH: (Scroll Down For Video) Passengers were forced to slide down emergency chutes after an engine briefly caught fire.

Over 160 crew and passengers were seen using the chutes in the snow on the Japan Airway flight in a video of the evacuation.

The airport serves the city of Sapporo in Hokkaido, Japan’s northern-most main island.

At least four passengers were taken to a local hospital with minor injures.

Everyone on board escaped the plane and waited for help on the tarmac.

The Boeing 737-800 was carrying 159 passengers and six crew members to Fukuoka.

Officials said the plane’s engine had stalled after sucking in snow and that there an explosive sound when a pilot restarted it.

It took less than 20 minutes for all passengers to be evacuated from the plane.

A Japan Airlines spokesperson reported to the DailyMail: The right-side engine experienced trouble during moving on a taxiway after it decided to terminate the departure procedure due the heavy snow and return to airplane parking area.

‘Japan Airlines makes sincere apologies to the passengers and people affected for resultant concerns and inconvenience.’
