The Milwaukee Police Department released a community briefing on Feb. 3 regarding the fatal shooting of Stanley Stubblefield, a resident of Vets Place Central, in an officer-involved incident.

On Dec. 20, 2022, police were summoned to the facility on 34th and Wells for a report of a man firing shots.

The officers encountered Stubblefield armed in the basement and holding two people captive, resulting in a hostage situation. The edited body camera footage shows the officers ordering Stubblefield to surrender his weapon and display his hands.

Stubblefield pointed his gun at the officers, prompting one of them to shoot and kill him. No other injuries were reported, and the police recovered Stubblefield’s firearm and one casing at the scene.
