A Brooklyn street was renamed in honor of NYPD Detective Rafael Ramos today. Friends and family members of Detective Ramos, along with Mayor Bill de Blasio, Police Commissioner Bratton, and fellow officers gathered as Ridgewood Avenue, near the home of Detective Ramos’ family, was renamed Detective Rafael Ramos Way.
Detective Ramos was assassinated along with his partner, Detective WenJian Liu, in December of 2014. West Sixth Street in Gravesend, Brooklyn was renamed Detective WenJian Liu Way last Saturday in honor of Detective Liu.
