Woman Jailed After Leading Police on Two-County Chase, Hitting Cop Car

Lancaster, KY – The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post arrested a Lexington woman yesterday afternoon, when she wrecked into a Lincoln County Sheriff Deputy’s vehicle during a pursuit.

The initial investigation indicates that the pursuit began just before 4:30 p.m. in Stanford, when a Stanford Police Officer attempted to stop a woman that was suspected of shoplifting. The driver, April Wallace, 36 years old of Lexington, failed to stop and led police on a pursuit from Lincoln County into Garrard County, where she was taken into custody after losing control of her vehicle and crashing into a ditch on U.S. Hwy 27 South.

April Wallace is lodged in the Lincoln County Detention Center, charged with Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle), Reckless Driving, two counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree (Police Officer), Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, Resisting Arrest, and two counts of Assault 3rd Degree (Police Officer).

Two Lincoln County Deputies were treated for minor injuries that they received during the pursuit and while making the arrest.
