PHILADELPHIA — At least seven people were hit by gunfire Saturday night in West Philly.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. near the 4100 block of Ogden Street.

The victims, all hit by rounds from a shotgun, were attending a picnic. A toddler and another child were among the shooting victims.

“It looks like they just randomly fired down the street and hit anyone in their way,” Philadelphia Police Lt. John Walker said.

Police didn’t immediately reveal what led to the shooting that left two children, including the 2-year-old, injured.

From NBCPhilly: “Both children were rushed to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in critical condition — the youngest victim with a wound to the neck, said Walker.

The rest of the victims ranged between 15 to 25 years old and were treated at Presbyterian Hospital also in critical condition, said investigators.”

Police don’t believe the shooter was attending the party at the time but may have been there earlier in the night, and no description was immediately released.

The report comes almost simultaneously with news from a block party in Detroit, where one person was killed and 9 injured in a shooting on the same Saturday evening.

No further details were available.
