DETROIT — At least ten people were shot and one person has died after a shooting at a block party in Detroit. This, almost simultaneously with another mass shooting at a party in Philadelphia.

From ClickonDetroit: “About 400 people were at the party enjoying some barbecue and a basketball game Saturday night at Dexter Avenue and Webb Street.

Detroit police don’t know if the incident was a drive-by shooting or if someone approached the party, but seven men and three women were shot. Police believe most of them had nothing to do with the gunfight.

Witnesses said they grabbed their children and ran for their lives. A stroller and a child’s overturned chair were left behind after the deadly shooting. A deflated bounce house sat in one corner as Detroit police combed through the basketball court.”

Asst. Police Chief Steve Dolunt said a 20-year-old man was killed. He hasn’t been identified.

Police are currently investigating the shooting.
