A man from Norway has been taken into custody for calling in two bomb threats at Philadelphia International Airport because he was running late for a flight.

Svein Johannessen, aged 30, missed his British Airways flight from Philadelphia to London on Thursday.

But they became so desperate to get the rescheduled flight that Johannessen allegedly called in a bomb threat at around 3:30 p.m., and claimed that a bomb was at the baggage claim in Terminal A.

Chief Inspector Joe Sullivan told Philly.com that Johannessen called 9-1-1, claiming that he had a bomb.

In a second call about an hour later, Johannessen allegedly demanded that all British Airways flights be grounded.

After investigators looked through surveillance footage, they were able to find out that Johannessen was making the calls from a pay phone inside the airport, and he was arrested.

Johannessen remains in custody, pending his formal arraignment.

The threats were unfounded, no one was injured and operations at the airport were not disrupted.

He faces felony charges of making bomb threats and terrorist threats.
