Police: Naked Swimmer Charged After Untying Boats From Dock

QUEENSBURY, NY — On August 10, 2018, at  6:25 a.m., State Police responded to the Peru Boat Launch on State Route 9 in Peru for a report of naked male at the boat launch.

A witness at the scene stated he observed a naked male jumping off a dock at that location and then found all of the boats tied to the dock had been released from their locations. Troopers located the male subject swimming in the water. The male was identified as 32-year-old Kevin J. Byrnes, of Queensbury, NY. A further investigation revealed that Byrnes had in fact, damaged one of the boats which was moored. The estimate of damages was approximately $325.

Byrnes was arrested and charged with Criminal Mischief 4th degree, Criminal Tampering and Exposure of a Person. He was arraigned in Town of Peru Court and remanded to the Clinton County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail.
